Hiking:
You’ll love our 3,000 acre ranch whether you are
a hiker, a stroller or a couch potato. You don’t
have to walk far from your cabin in order to enjoy our
ranch, but all you need to do is take a walk and you’ll
be able to enjoy the nature in the Wawawai Canyon. Nesting
birds, panoramic views and abundant watering holes are
just a few things you’ll find. The hillsides are
covered in blue bunch grass, downy brome, and bunch
grass that starts “greening up” in March.
Hike to the ridge to an overlook of the Snake River
canyon and you can see for miles. And, there’s
also the Wawawai Canyon Park with interpretive trails. |
|
Running:
There’s trail running and paved routes. One of
our favorites is on the flat road that winds along the
Snake River for miles. The air is crisp and often breezy.
The birds chirp you on! The scenery is striking, but
perhaps the most beautiful is simply looking at the
river, especially when it is placid and shows a reflection
of the mountains. If you like running uphill, there
is a road that ascends the hills for 5 miles. You can
also run the hilly trails at Wawawai County Park that
is adjacent to our ranch and covered in green grass
nearly year-round. |
|
Kayak,
boats, and canoes:
The Snake River is usually as placid as a lake (due
to the dams). It is ideal for canoes, kayaks, sailing,
jet skis…whatever! We have a few simple kayaks
that you can use. You can also bring your own boats
and put in at the river’s edge. |
|
Swimming:
Throw on your flip flops and bathing suit and walk down
the hill past the grazing cows to take a dip in the
river! The mountain-creek-fed river has a great dock
you can jump off and sweet little swimming holes along
the rivers edge. We swim every chance we get in the
summer. |
|
Fishing:
The Snake River is famous for steelhead derbies and
salmon runs. We also have trout, bass, perch, croppy,
catfish, and sturgeon. Bring your boat and launch at
the boat ramp or fish from the riverbanks. Bring your
favorite fishing pole and tackle. You can grill your
catch back at the cabin. The very first fish Nikki ever
caught was a bass and it was beautiful and yummy! |
|
Biking:
The fast cool breezes through your hair and on your
face as you take on the flat road along the Snake River.
Go ahead and bike the whole 25 miles and go right into
Lewiston, Idaho. If you like hills, you can bike up
and down the Wawawai grade that is approximately 5 miles
long. You can also take a 15 mile hilly ride to Pullman. |
|
Rock Climbing:
If you have your own equipment and are an experienced climber, there is a popular rock face just outside of our ranch. Bring your gear and a climbing buddy! |
|
Meditation:
Whatever spirituality you follow, all is welcome here.
We believe in a balance of body, mind, and spirit and
practice it on a daily basis. The sweet sounds of nature
and the stillness of the ranch is a perfect place for
you to be with, and find that, quiet in your mind. It
is an ideal place to de-stress, reevaluate and be peaceful. |
|
Outdoor, Private Spa Services:
After you get your fill of adventure and activities, you may want to retreat to your cabin for a little relaxation and pampering. We have a professional masseuse available who will bring a massage table to your cabin to ease you into tranquility. If you like, we also have a professional pedicurist available who will give your feet a treat! |
