When you
arrive, we’ll give you a basket of foods that were just
collected on our farm or bought from local farmers, bakers
and other food artisans. (We’ll give you preparation
suggestions or recipes too!). We’ll do our best to provide
you with a variety of delicious, healthy food. We’ll
provide enough food for breakfast, a picnic-friendly lunch,
mid-day snacking (including kid-friendly, healthy snacks),
and dinner. But, you get to prepare it yourself! We’ll
tailor the food to any dietary restrictions that you have
if you let us know ahead of time.
We want to give you the opportunity to connect with how, where
and by whom your food is raised. Facilitating that connection
is our primary reason for opening our ranch to you!

Food
from Our Ranch
The main activity on our ranch is raising grass-fed beef.
We’ll provide you with meat and jerky from our cattle.
We’ll also provide you with eggs from our chickens (if
you get up early enough, you can collect the eggs yourself!).
Wild herbs and fruit grow along the creeks that run through
our ranch. Wild watercress and stinging nettles also grow
plentifully in the Spring. |
|
Food
From Our Orchard
Wild berries such as blackberries grow prolifically on our
ranch. We also have fruit trees located in small clusters
throughout the ranch, including cherries, apples, plums and
pears. You are free to collect whatever you can eat while
you are here…consider it an all-you-can-eat buffet from
the fruit gods (in conspiracy with the bees). |
|
Food
From Our Garden
We keep a garden on our ranch. In the summertime, we harvest
a variety of vegetables and herbs. Not only will we give you
vegetables from our garden, but if you are interested in learning
about gardening, you can garden with us. |
|
Food
From Our Community
When supplying you with food while you are here, first we’ll
try to provide foods direct from our ranch. Of course, we
can’t grow or make everything. Whatever we can’t
get from our ranch, we’ll buy from local farmers and
artisans who are committed to local and organic food. Sometimes,
depending on the season and availability we may also need
to get some foods from a bit farther away. But, we promise
to source food from as close to our ranch as possible! |
|
The
Local Winery
Yes, the local winery…and, it’s organic! The Wawawai
Canyon Winery has some delicious local wine varietals, including
Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Gewurztraminer.
You can walk right over to the winery for a tour, tasting
and a bottle to bring back to your cabin! |
|
Our
Spring Water
All of the water on our ranch comes straight from our spring.
It is crisp and pure. You can get it from the tap or follow
the animal trails to numerous upwelling springs on the ranch! |
